A recent report by Russell Herder found that 21.1% of U.S. adults ages 18 to 24 follow a health care provider on Facebook, Twitter or another social media website.
According to the report, the percentage of U.S. adults who follow a health care provider on a social media site is 11.3% among those ages 25 to 34, 11.4% among those ages 35 to 44, 13.1% among those ages 45-54 and 7.9% among those ages 55-64. Among U.S. adults age 65 and older, 3% follow a health care provider on a social media site, the report found.
Russell Herder used Google Consumer Surveys to conduct the October online survey of 1,000 U.S. adults age 18 and older. The survey results were weighted by age, gender and region to be demographically representative of the U.S. population.
