How Do Health Care Organizations Protect Patient Data on Clinicians' Mobile Devices?

When asked about the measures used to protect patient data on clinicians' mobile devices, 52% of surveyed health care organizations cited virtualization, according to a recent report by research firm KLAS.

The report found that 46% of surveyed health care organizations said they use encryption to protect patient data on clinicians' mobile devices, and 35% said they used mobile device management software. Twelve percent of surveyed health care organizations say they put limits on the use of mobile devices, 11% said they use an internal cloud, 6% said they put limits on mobile operating systems and 5% said they use an external cloud to protect patient data.

The report is based on a survey of 105 executives and other representatives of health care organizations.
