
Forty-two percent of surveyed online adults believe that pharmaceutical companies should participate in online health communities for consumers, compared with 19% who say pharmaceutical companies should not be involved in such forums, according to a survey from Manhattan Research.
Thirty-nine percent of online adults are neutral on the issue, according to the survey.
Meanwhile, the top groups that believe pharmaceutical companies should be active in such communities are attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder caregivers, as well as bipolar disorder caregivers.
Results are based on an online survey of 6,634 U.S. adults conducted in the fourth quarter of 2011.
