Data Point Image

Seventy-three percent of users of the Department of Veterans Affairs' My HealtheVet personal health record system said they would share their medication list with a spouse or partner, according to an Annals of Internal Medicine study.

Two-thirds of My HealtheVet users would share all components of their PHR with a spouse or partner, and 66% also said they would share just laboratory or study results, according to the study.

The study also found that 54% of My HealtheVet users would share all components of their PHR with an unrelated caregiver, 49% would share all of their PHR components with a non-VA health care provider, 48% would share all PHR components with another family member and 45% would share all elements with a friend or neighbor.

Results are based on an online survey of 18,471 users of My HealtheVet conducted from July 7 through Oct. 4, 2010.
