Seventy-six percent of surveyed employees at health care provider organizations say their institution has in place an official electronic communications policy, compared with 13% who say their organization does not have such a policy and 11% who do not know, according to a survey from Frost & Sullivan and the Institute for Health Technology Transformation.
The survey found that 84% of respondents report using social media for personal purposes, while 75% use the tools for professional purposes and 68% use social media for both personal and professional reasons.
The survey also found that nearly half of respondents whose organizations use social media say social media is meeting their institution's expectations.
Results are based on an online survey conducted between April and May 2011 of 63 employees of health care provider institutions.
