Data Point Image

Seventy-six percent of U.S. adults reported that they have looked for health information online, up from 67% in 2009, according to a new Harris Interactive poll.

In 2004, 51% of U.S. adults reported looking online for health information, while just 27% said they had looked online for health information in 1998.

Of the adults who reported looking online for health information, 86% said they were successful, while 9% said they were unsuccessful, the new survey found.

In addition, 85% of respondents who reported looking for health information online said the information they found was reliable, compared with 8% who said the information was unreliable.

Results are based on a telephone poll conducted between July 13 and July 18 among 1,066 U.S. adults.
