Minnesota has launched an online exchange to help clinics obtain needed supplies of influenza vaccines, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
This project marks the first time the Minnesota Department of Health has launched an online tool to facilitate vaccine distribution.
Health care providers and their representatives can log on to the website to:
- Post their vaccine needs;
- Share contact information; and
- Reply to topic threads.
Although the health department does not redistribute the vaccine supplies, it provides the online tool so clinics can coordinate with each other and meet patient demand.
Kris Ehresmann --director of infectious disease epidemiology at the health department -- said, "It's sort of like a dating site for [health care] providers" (Hargarten, Minneapolis Star Tribune, 1/29).
