EHNAC Seeks Input on Accreditation Programs for Health IT Services

The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission has announced that it is seeking public comment on the updated criteria for its accreditation programs, Health Data Management reports (Goedert, Health Data Management, 9/25).

EHNAC is requesting input on the appropriateness, necessity and workability of the new criteria.

The new criteria cover 10 existing EHNAC accreditation programs and two new programs (Walsh, Clinical Innovation & Technology, 9/25). The 10 existing programs are the:

  • Electronic Prescribing Accreditation Program;
  • Financial Services Accreditation Program for Electronic Health Networks;
  • Financial Services Accreditation Program for Lockbox Services;
  • Health Information Exchange Accreditation Program;
  • Healthcare Network Accreditation Plus Select SAS 70 Criteria Program;
  • Healthcare Network Accreditation Program for Electronic Health Networks;
  • Healthcare Network Accreditation Program for Medical Billers;
  • Healthcare Network Accreditation Program for Third Party Administrators;
  • Management Service Organization Accreditation Program; and
  • Outsourced Services Accreditation Program.

The two new programs are the:

  • E-Prescription of Controlled Substances Certification Program for Pharmacy Vendors; and
  • E-Prescription of Controlled Substances Certification Program for Prescribing Vendors (Barr, Modern Healthcare, 9/25).

EHNAC is accepting comments on the updated criteria through Nov. 25 (Health Data Management, 9/25).
