FROM THE FOUNDATION

Big Business, Little Data

A growing number of Californians are being sent to ambulatory surgery centers for a wide variety of procedures, yet little is known about the care they deliver because reporting is not required.

Keeping Track of Asthma

CHCF has made a second investment in Asthmapolis, a device that tracks asthma inhaler use and reports data through mobile phones to patients and doctors to better manage the disease.

ONC Releases Draft Test Procedures for Stage 2 EHR Testing, Certifying Back to Article >>

What's not mentioned here and not part of the Stage 2 rules is that as of 10/4/2012 if a vendor wants to test out for Stage 1 they will have to abide by two new ONC requirements.

In the draft Stage 2 regs they wanted vendors to list prices for all system components (yours and third party components and services), then, after the vendors screamed ONC backed off and said that in your web or marketing package you must list any and all cost components needed to properly install and implement your full EHR or EHR Module (not the dollars, but must list all the resources the provider will need).

Secondly ONC will publish all test results and tester documents that are generated during the test (not to include screen shots).

These seem to be such good ideas they are not waiting for Stage 2 to implemnet them. It all starts October 4, 2012.

Our advice - file a Stage 1 test app ASAP- beat the October deadline.
