CMS Seeks To Improve Usability of Medicare Plan Finder Website

CMS plans to evaluate design changes that could make its Medicare Plan Finder website easier for seniors to use, according to a notice published in the Federal Register, Government Health IT reports.

About the Website

The online tool allows seniors to look up information about Medicare health plans and prescription drug plans, including data on:

  • Benefits and coverage offerings;
  • Fixed and variable costs;
  • Member experiences; and
  • Quality of service.

Possible Design Changes

According to the Federal Register notice, CMS wants to improve the usability and navigability of the website because "the amount of information presented is voluminous, and can seem overwhelming."

CMS said it plans to evaluate design changes to the website that would incorporate:

  • Quick links; and
  • Enhanced data display (Mosquera, Government Health IT, 7/5).
