Two-thirds of surveyed health care providers who have worked with a health information exchange consulting firm said the firm met or exceeded their expectations, according to a new report by research firm KLAS, CMIO reports (Gale, CMIO, 7/19).
About the Report
The report analyzes 13 third-party firms offering four different types of health data exchange consulting services:
- Advisory assistance;
- Staff augmentation;
- Systems integration; and
- Technical support.
Report Findings
The report found that more health care providers used consulting firms when joining public health information exchanges than when joining private exchanges (Durben Hirsch, FierceEMR, 7/20).
Although most health care providers selected a consulting firm with which they had an existing relationship, the report recommended that providers instead select consulting firms that are capable of meeting their specific health information exchange needs.
The report highlighted Impact Advisors and CSC as leaders in the field of health information exchange consulting (CMIO, 7/19).
