CMS Publishes Data on Recipients of Medicare EHR Incentive Payments

On Wednesday, CMS announced it has published the names, business phone numbers and business addresses of Medicare providers that had received meaningful use incentive payments as of March, Government Health IT reports.

Under the 2009 federal economic stimulus package, health care providers who demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health record systems can qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments.

CMS posted one list of health care professionals and one list of hospitals that have received incentive payments. The agency plans to update both lists, which are organized by state, on a quarterly basis.

CMS also plans to provide the data in a downloadable spreadsheet format. The spreadsheet format would allow users to sort the information by state, medical specialty or other factors (Mosquera, Government Health IT, 5/10).
