Highmark and Teledoc are taking a strong first step toward integrating HIT in timely provision of care. Waiting 22 minutes for a consult on minor medical concerns (as specified by Highmark) is trivial compared to driving to the ED and waiting, waiting there.

Common sense should (granted, "common sense" is less and less common) enable the sufferer or patient to discern, say a bloody nose from a broken nose. Or a a sprain from a broken appendage.

As PA Watson (IBM Watson for healthcare) gains expertise and attests its reliability, it will serve as physician and / or nurse "multiplier" in this "flavor" of telehealth.
