Compared with other specialists, internal medicine physicians report the highest levels of satisfaction with their electronic health record systems, according to a report from research firm KLAS, CMIO reports.
For the report, KLAS interviewed more than 700 health care professionals about how EHR vendors meet the needs of their specific specialties.
After internal medicine specialists, researchers found the highest levels of satisfaction with EHR systems among specialists in:
- Family medicine;
- Pediatrics; and
- Obstetrics/gynecology.
Specialists in ophthalmology reported the lowest levels of satisfaction with their EHR system.
Mark Wagner, KLAS research director, said many EHR vendors are working to "meet providers' needs and reach the specialty [EHR] promised land by offering a solution that provides the fewest gaps with the best support for the broadest number of specialties" (Byers, CMIO, 3/13).
