Big Business, Little Data

A growing number of Californians are being sent to ambulatory surgery centers for a wide variety of procedures, yet little is known about the care they deliver because reporting is not required.

Keeping Track of Asthma

CHCF has made a second investment in Asthmapolis, a device that tracks asthma inhaler use and reports data through mobile phones to patients and doctors to better manage the disease.

Toolkit Focuses on Use of Document Systems To Support EHR Shift

The American Health Information Management Association has developed a toolkit designed to ensure that document management and medical imaging systems support a health care organization's transition to an electronic health record system, Health Data Management reports.

The toolkit includes resources on integration between a document management system and an EHR system.

It also offers guidance on:

  • Preparing and scanning documents;
  • Capturing data;
  • Document storage options;
  • Indexing features; and
  • Review and quality controls.

The toolkit is available at no cost to AHIMA members and at $99.95 for non-AHIMA members (Goedert, Health Data Management, 10/25).
