CMS Releases Online Tool To Help Guide Meaningful Use Efforts

CMS has unveiled a Web-based resource to assist health care providers and eligible professionals in qualifying for the Medicare electronic health record incentive payment program, Modern Physician reports.

Under the 2009 federal economic stimulus package, health care providers who demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR systems can qualify for Medicaid and Medicare incentive payments.

Resource Details

The online tool -- called, "An Introduction to the Medicare EHR Incentive Program for Eligible Professionals" -- includes information on program eligibility and registration.

The interactive resource also:

  • Describes Stage 1 meaningful use criteria; and
  • Advises health care providers on how to choose among the optional measures for attesting to meaningful use (Conn, Modern Physician, 12/1).
