Less than 10% of health care providers are more than halfway along on their way to ICD-10 compliance, according to a new report from research firm KLAS, Healthcare IT News reports (Monegain, Healthcare IT News, 10/27).

Report Details
For the report, KLAS interviewed 163 health care providers about their readiness for the ICD-10 transition. Researchers found that most health care organizations still are in the planning stages.
The report also found that:
- 76% of health care providers said they do not expect CMS to postpone the ICD-10 transition deadline;
- 65% of health care providers are working or plan to work with third party firms on their ICD-10 transition effort;
- 60% of health care providers are concerned about the ICD-10 readiness of their clinical or financial systems vendor; and
- 8% of health care providers have not started preparing for the ICD-10 shift (Byers, CMIO, 10/26).
