On Wednesday, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society announced that six organizations had received its 2010 Davies Awards of Excellence for their implementation and use of electronic health records, Modern Healthcare reports (Conn, Modern Healthcare, 9/16).
Organizational Davies Award
Davies award winners in the organizational category are:
- Sentara Healthcare in Virginia, which deployed an EHR application that allows single-view access for retrieving medical results and a dashboard of business and clinical metrics; and
- Nemours in Delaware, which implemented a single EHR across 34 ambulatory and inpatient pediatric care facilities.
Ambulatory Davies Award
Recipients of HIMSS' ambulatory award are:
- The Diabetes Center in Mississippi, which digitally downloads information from diabetes pumps and incorporates the data into patient records; and
- Miramont Family Medicine in Colorado, which increased the amount of time spent with patients after implementing EHRs at four clinics.
Community Health Davies Award
This year's community health award went to Open Door Family Medical Center in New York, which uses a data warehouse and quality reporting tools to improve care and increase operational efficiency (Merrill, Healthcare IT News, 9/16).
Public Health Davies Award
In addition, HIMSS' public health award went to Wisconsin Division of Public Health's Wisconsin Immunity Registry, which includes more than 6.8 million patient records and 49 million associated immunization records, while providing 2,500 schools with "look up" access (Goedert, Health Data Management, 9/16).
