Start-up Turns to Text Messaging To Let People Question Physicians

A San Francisco-based start-up firm is marketing the opportunity to ask a question of a group of doctors via text message, the New York Times' "Bits" reports.

The service, called Truth on Call, aims to mirror the set up of Twitter by letting users ask questions of large groups of people.

The initiative launched last month and currently is open to members of the media, the health care industry and financial firms.  It will open up to patients in a few months.

Physicians who want to participate can sign up on Truth On Call's Web site.

Truth On Call Founder Rosina Samadani said she hopes the service eventually can connect care providers in developing nations with U.S. physicians (Miller, "Bits," New York Times, 2/3).
