New Panel To Manage Internet Privacy Could Work With Health Data

The Office of Science and Technology Policy -- a branch of the National Science and Technology Council -- recently announced the creation of the Subcommittee on Privacy and Internet Policy to monitor global privacy issues related to online information, which possibly could include online health data, Modern Healthcare reports.

The subcommittee will include a representative from HHS, as well as officials from other federal departments (Conn, Modern Healthcare, 10/26).

The group aims to develop a common Internet privacy strategy for various legislative and regulatory stakeholders in the U.S. and around the world.

In addition, it will work with the private sector to balance privacy policies with the needs of entities that conduct business online (Montalbano, InformationWeek, 10/25).
