On Wednesday, CMS announced a new pilot program that will task the Indiana Health Information Exchange with evaluating the impact of a Medicare quality reporting and pay-for-performance program, Health Data Management reports.
The project aims to help the Medicare program improve health care delivery and lower costs.
For the project, IHIE will collect data from Medicaid, Medicare, private insurers and employer-sponsored health plans. IHIE then will juxtapose that information with clinical data to determine whether the pay-for-performance program functions more effectively in a multi-payer setting.
Officials said the project will involve about 800 health care providers that care for Medicare fee-for-service patients in the Indianapolis area.
CMS on Wednesday also launched a demonstration project in North Carolina to advance the medical home model (Goedert, Health Data Management, 1/27).
