Latest Round of Stimulus Grants Will Help Fund EHR Efforts

Nearly 400 community health centers nationwide will adopt or expand their use of electronic health record systems using federal economic stimulus grants that first lady Michelle Obama announced on Monday, Healthcare IT News reports.

In addition, more than 650 community health centers will use funds to buy health IT systems or other new equipment (Merrill, Healthcare IT News, 6/30).

The grants Obama announced on Monday total $851 million and will go to more than 1,500 community health centers throughout the U.S.

The grants are the third round of stimulus funds for community health centers since President Obama signed the legislation in February (Goedert, Health Data Management, 6/30).
