New Web Site Rates Long-Term Care Providers in California

On Thursday, the California HealthCare Foundation unveiled a new Web site designed to help consumers compare long-term care providers in California, the Sacramento Bee reports.

CHCF is the publisher of iHealthBeat.

CalQualityCare.org provides ratings for residential nursing homes, home health agencies and hospices in the state (Calvan, Sacramento Bee, 11/20). The site also provides information on other types of long-term care, such as assisted living, retirement communities and day care (CHCF release, 11/19).

The site rates facilities from "poor" to "superior" on measures, such as:

  • Staffing levels;
  • Reported deficiencies; and
  • Quality of care.

The site's data are collected from state and federal agencies (Sacramento Bee, 11/20).

The Web site is sponsored by CHCF in partnership with the University of California-San Francisco (CHCF release, 11/19).
