M&A, Financial Reports and Funding

Compuware, a vendor of hospital software applications, has completed its acquisition of Web optimization firm Gomez for $295 million...QHR Technologies, a health IT firm in British Columbia, will purchase Clinicare, an EHR provider, for $4.7 million in cash and stock...investment firms TPG Capital and CPP Investment Board will acquire IMS Health, a pharmaceutical database firm, for $5.2 billion.

Ingenix, UnitedHealth Group's IT and consulting subsidiary, will acquire CareMedic Systems, a developer of revenue cycle management applications, for an undisclosed sum...VeriChip, a vendor of implantable RFID chips, has completed an all-stock acquisition of Steel Vault, a vendor of identity theft protection systems, for an undisclosed amount.

Health IT firm Eclipsys reported a Q3 2009 net income of $3.9 million on $125.5 million in revenue.

Contracts

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases awarded Northrop Grumman a five-year, $16 million contract to create IT resources for supporting pathogenic virus research...the Catholic Independent Practice Association in New York will implement eClinicalWorks' EHR and practice management software...Trinity Health System will implement seven of Elsevier's online clinical decision support applications.

North Mississippi Medical Center has selected Eclipsys' Sunrise Enterprise integrated suite of clinical software...the Carolina eHealth Alliance has selected TELUS Health Solutions' Oacis HIE system...the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT has designated Nitor Group as the sole-source contractor to move the Nationwide Health Information Network into production status.
