Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry (D) is urging state lawmakers to approve a bill (SB 1712) that would create a Web site to let consumers compare retail prices for the 150 most-prescribed prescription drugs in the state, Government Technology reports.
The bill, authored by state Sen. Andrew Rice (D), would require all Oklahoma pharmacies to routinely submit retail price information to the Web site, which would be administered by the Oklahoma Department of Health.
Henry said similar Web sites in other states have encouraged pharmacies to reduce prices, translating into significant savings for consumers (Government Technology, 1/29).
