Federal Agency Shares Quality Report Card Examples Online

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on Wednesday released a Web-based directory of more than 200 samples that can be used to create quality report cards for hospitals, health plans, medical groups, physician practices and nursing homes, Modern Healthcare reports.

"The demand for information about health care quality is rising rapidly, and it will be increasingly important for this information to be presented clearly and effectively," AHRQ Director Carolyn Clancy said (Conn, Modern Healthcare, 5/30).

The Health Care Report Card Compendium aims "to inform and support the various organizations that develop health care quality reports, to provide easy access to examples of different approaches to content and presentation, and to meet the needs of health services researchers," according to AHRQ (AHA News, 5/30).

The agency noted that the samples are illustrations of different ways to compile the data and that it is not endorsing the report cards on the site (United Press International, 5/30).

The directory was developed by the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems User Network at AHRQ (Modern Healthcare, 5/30).
