Pennsylvania Insurer Unveils Free PHR Program for Members

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Pennsylvania is offering its members personal health record software at no cost through its Web site, Health Data Management reports.

The insurer automatically will add to the records relevant claims and administrative data, including dates of service, diagnoses and treatments, medications and other information.

The PHR tracking technology will enable users to keep records of:

  • Allergies;
  • Blood glucose;
  • Blood pressure;
  • Cholesterol level;
  • Medication tracking;
  • Immunizations;
  • Physician information;
  • Treatment history; and
  • Weight.

Members also can enter additional data and print PHRs to share with their physicians (Health Data Management, 5/23).
