What Percentage of U.S. Hospitals Will Meet All Metrics of 'Meaningful Use' by FY 2011?

Data Point Image

Seventy-five percent of health IT professionals surveyed believe that less than 25% of hospitals will be prepared to meet all of the metrics of "meaningful use" of electronic health records by the beginning of fiscal year 2011, according to a survey by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

Twenty percent of respondents indicated that 25% to 49% of hospitals will be able to meet all meaningful use metrics by FY 2011, while 4% said they believed that 50% to 74% of hospitals will be ready to meet all meaningful use metrics.

None of the respondents thought that 75% or more of U.S. hospitals would be ready to meet all metrics for meaningful use of EHRs by FY 2011.

Results are based on a May 2009 online survey of 184 health IT professionals.
