Do Physicians Use the Internet and Other Technology To Research Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Medical Devices?

Data Point Image

In 2008, 84% of physicians surveyed reported using the Internet and other technology to find information about pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices, according to a Manhattan Research survey.

That percentage is up from 2004, when 64% of doctors reported going online and using other technology to find information about pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices.

The survey also found that physicians would like to access pharmaceutical or medical device product information through online or electronic sources 54% of the time and through offline or print sources 46% of the time.

Currently, physicians access pharmaceutical or medical device product information through online or electronic sources 41% of the time and though offline or print sources 59% of the time, according to the survey.

Results are based on a survey of 1,681 online practicing U.S. physicians.
