Telemedicine To Connect Virginia Clinic With UVA Specialists

On Tuesday, the Meadowview Health Clinic and Community Center in Meadowview, Va., announced that it will add a telemedicine link to allow patients to video conference with specialists at University of Virginia in Charlottesville, the Bristol Herald Courier reports.

In addition to consultations with medical specialists, the telemedicine link will be used to help community clinic patients understand complicated medical information, Howard Chapman, executive director of the Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, said.

Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) said a $227,613 federal grant will help fund the project. He said the telemedicine link should be operational by the end of the year (McCown, Bristol Herald Courier, 10/22).
