Google, Dossia Join Coalition To Promote Interoperability

Google and the Dossia Employer Coalition have joined the Continua Health Alliance, a coalition of vendors and organizations promoting interoperable personal health systems, Health Data Management reports.

Continua members have adopted some initial data standards aimed at advancing interoperability among personal health systems, including:

  • Consumer health devices;
  • Health information systems;
  • Home health devices; and
  • Personal health records.

Wal-Mart, Google Efforts

This year, Google launched Google Health, an online PHR platform for consumers.

Dossia also is pushing the use of PHRs. Wal-Mart, a Dossia member, began offering PHRs to employees who receive health insurance from the company. Other Dossia members plan to launch similar PHR efforts (Health Data Management, 10/21).
