McKesson is partnering with JPMorgan Chase to offer an electronic system for processing claims and payments through its claims clearinghouse service, Health Data Management reports.
McKesson electronically will send Chase traditional provider transactions, such as claims submission, eligibility verification, claims status and referral authorization. Chase will integrate the electronic transactions with digital copies of paper remittance, reconcile them with the actual payments and then send an electronic file to providers that can be entered into patient accounts (Health Data Management, 6/22).
The combined service aims to ease the process of paying and collecting services for insurers, health care providers and patients (AP/Forbes, 6/21). The partnership also will include traditional lockbox services and other financial functions.
Martha Beard, senior vice president and head of the health care solutions business at Chase, said the companies will focus particularly on small physician practices (Health Data Management, 6/22).
