InspireHealth, formerly called the Centre for Integrated Healing, has launched in Vancouver, British Columbia, the world's first central database of integrated cancer research, the Vancouver Province reports.
The online system offers patients and medical professionals around the world no-cost access to cancer research. The system currently includes more than 750 articles on a variety of additions to standard treatment, such as supplements, exercise and spiritual healing.
"There is a growing body of research that clearly demonstrates the effectiveness and growing acceptance of integrated cancer care," Hal Gunn, co-founder and CEO of InspireHealth, said, adding, "However, the challenge is often finding that information."
The system was created with grants totaling 155,000 Canadian dollars, or about $140,800, from the British Columbia/Yukon Chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the British Columbia Foundation for Prostate Disease (Harrison, Vancouver Province, 5/15).
